Joshua - Week 7

Life is full of moments where a single choice changes everything that follows. This message takes us into Joshua 24, where Israel stands at a crossroads that will define their entire future. The question isn't whether we will serve something, but what we will serve. We're reminded that choosing God isn't just an intellectual agreement or a casual thought—it's a wholehearted commitment that engages our emotions, our actions, and our minds. Joshua lays out a powerful framework: we choose with our hearts by fearing and standing in awe of God's holiness and power; we choose with our hands through service and worship that permeates every aspect of daily life; and we choose with our minds by anchoring ourselves in truth rather than cultural distortions. The compelling reality is that every time we choose something, we simultaneously un-choose something else. We cannot follow Christ while clinging to rival gods or lesser loves. The message challenges us to examine what sits on the throne of our hearts—is it approval, comfort, success, or the living God? Joshua's declaration becomes our own: 'As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.' This isn't about perfection, but about a renewed allegiance that shapes how we love, what we do, and what we believe.
