Joshua - Week 2

This powerful message draws us into the story of Rahab from Joshua chapter 2, revealing profound truths about urgency, faith, and our responsibility to those we love. We encounter two nations on opposite sides of the Jordan River: one a military powerhouse with fortified walls, the other a group of former slaves living in tents. Yet the city, filled with military might, trembles in fear, while the humble travelers carry the presence of Almighty God. Rahab, a prostitute and innkeeper, makes an astonishing choice to protect Israelite spies and plead for her family's safety. The answer to her request is simple yet profound: tie a scarlet cord in the window and gather everyone into the house. While tying the cord was easy, the real challenge was convincing her family to come inside. They didn't share her beliefs, they were busy with preparations, and, worst of all, they knew her past and her failures. Yet Rahab persisted because she understood a fundamental truth: when you love someone and they're in danger, you tell them. This ancient story becomes a mirror for our own calling as believers. We're not asked to be judges or defense attorneys in the courtroom of faith; we're simply witnesses, testifying to what God has done in our lives. The scarlet cord becomes our symbol of invitation, calling those still standing in the storm to find safety in Christ before it's too late.
